Not one to give up, Molly takes it upon herself to get Andrew to Dublin so he could spend Christmas with his family, no matter what. When their flight to Dublin is cancelled, what could’ve been the first time Molly and Andrew would spend Christmas in Chicago, wasn’t. Andrew is a photographer, easy-going, and loves all things Christmas. They’re witty, clever, and total opposites! Molly is an attorney, competitive, and doesn’t care much for Christmas. What really got my attention and kept me engaged throughout, though, were Molly and Andrew. It’s an interesting premise for their story, and it had me interested from the very beginning. Those seven hours of flight time, though, have become a meaningful time for their friendship. Once they arrive in Ireland, they each go their separate ways to celebrate Christmas time with their families. It’s the only time they see each other throughout the year, so their annual flight has become a tradition neither has wanted to break. For the last ten years, they’ve been flying from Chicago to Ireland together. Molly and Andrew have an interesting friendship. This is my first book by Catherine Walsh, and now I can’t wait to read more from her. Holiday Romance was the perfect way to start off my holiday reading! This story really is “ a totally hilarious and unforgettable Christmas romantic comedy“, as the blurb suggests.

Nevertheless, if the low figure of ten million was accepted as a basis for evaluating the impact of slaving on Africa as a whole, the conclusions that could legitimately be drawn would confound those who attempt to make light of the experience of the rape of Africans from 1445 to 1870. The truth is that any figure of Africans imported into the Americas which is narrowly based on the surviving records is bound to be low, because there were so many people at the time who had a vested interest in smuggling slaves (and withholding data). In order to whitewash the European slave trade, they find it convenient to start by minimizing the numbers concerned. Because it is a low figure, it is already being used by European scholars who are apologists for the capitalist system and its long record of brutality in Europe and abroad. A recent study has suggested a figure of about ten million Africans landed alive in the Americas, the Atlantic islands, and Europe. This has long been an object of speculation, with estimates ranging from a few millions to over one hundred million. One of the uncertainties concerns the basic question of how many Africans were imported. Many things remain uncertain about the slave trade and its consequences for Africa, but the general picture of destructiveness can be shown to be the logical consequence of the manner of recruitment of captives in Africa. Most people were given less than one year to live, some as few as 3 weeks to 6 months. They were told: “get your affairs in order,” “we can arrange hospice,” “there is nothing more we can do,”, or words to that effect. Most of these survivors are not just surviving, but thriving, and have confounded their mainstream doctors by defying their dire predictions. Part One chronicles the true-compelling stories of 20 people, interviewed by Rick Shapiro, who have “beaten the odds” and whom are living 5, 10 and 20 plus years after receiving devastating, shocking terminal cancer prognoses. I still don't get why you pick foreign actors if they can't speak the film scripted language. it doesn't make any difference: why people produce these things? Why not spending a couple of nights for an innocent poem (or a comic) no one will read, and instead polluting the world with these costly, vacuous, artificial, unfunny, anachronistic and brainless allegories? Let's add that the dubbing of B. Luckily here the quantity of pretentious and meaningless shouted lines is lower, and yet. Ofc all the emotional material I found were my desperate disappointment for the mediocre prosaic mummified nothingness I witnessed. I just recently reviewed another disaster of a movie: "La mecanica popular" which deals with art, fiction, literature, etc just like this "Il Materiale Emotivo". Someone thought it was worth a movie with Castellitto starring-directing and that's it. Scola who depicted with his 50yo career a lot of the italian esprit before dying recently, wrote the story - which became a comic - going way out of his depth IMO. The only gift some might like to receive from this movie has to do with M De Angelis and still here she shows nothing that she hasn't already shown in "The Undoing". Please, don't assume you're gifted in any way.
